Download PNG when the QR code will stay close to its original size on a screen. Download SVG when a designer or printer may resize it. Both files encode the same wa.me link.
PNG - digital use
400 by 400 pixels. Best for email, landing pages, social posts, slide decks, and documents where the displayed size is known. Sharp in print up to about 3.4 cm (1.3 in) wide at 300 dpi.
SVG - print and resizing
Vector output. Best for menus, shop windows, business cards, event banners, product packaging, and files handed to a designer.

How to print a WhatsApp QR code so it scans

Keep the white border
The files include a 4-module white border. Do not crop it or print over it. Scanners use it to find the edges of the code.

Size it for the scanning distance
A common rule of thumb is one tenth of the distance: a code scanned from 1 m away should be about 10 cm wide. Table cards and business cards can be much smaller because people hold them close.

Use dark on light, on a matte surface
The code is dark navy on white. Keep it that way, avoid glossy laminate that reflects light, and do not print it on a busy photo.

Keep the message short
Every character in the link adds squares to the code. A short pre-filled message gives bigger squares, which scan more reliably at small print sizes.

Print a proof and scan it
Scan the proof with an iPhone and an Android phone, from the real scanning distance, and confirm the right chat opens before you order a full print run.
WhatsApp QR code not scanning? Common fixes
The camera sees the code but nothing happens
Open the wa.me link shown under the code in a browser. If it says the number is invalid, fix the number here (no leading 0, correct country code) and download the code again.
The code scans slowly or not at all
It is usually too small for the distance, low in contrast, or covered in glare. Print it larger on a matte surface and keep the white border.
The code looks dense
The pre-filled message is long. Shorten it. If the message is too long to fit in any QR code, this tool tells you instead of showing an old code.
The printed code looks blurry
A 400 px PNG is sharp up to about 3.4 cm (1.3 in) wide at 300 dpi. For anything larger, download the SVG.
The chat opens without my message
The message is part of the code. If you typed or changed it after downloading, download the code again. A printed code cannot be edited.
Tell your QR codes apart
A wa.me link has no analytics of its own. To see which placement works, make one code per placement and give each a different pre-filled message, such as "Hi, I scanned the table card" or "Hi, I scanned the shop window". Then count the chats that start with each phrase in your inbox.
