Assumptions. Meta fees. WhatsApp message fees are excluded on both sides. ManyChat charges delivered WhatsApp messages from a prepaid Wallet at its own rate card; Instant Reply customers pay Meta directly, unmarked. ManyChat Advanced overage is $0.004 on the pricing page but "custom" in its help center, so confirm it on your account.

On ManyChat Pro ($39/mo, 2,500 Active Contacts), a post that brings 20,000 extra people into your DMs adds 20,000 x $0.05 = $1,000 of overage that month, $1,039 in total, before WhatsApp fees.
ManyChat gives you tools against this, and we list them: usage alerts at 70%, 90% and 100%, an overage cap in Settings > Billing, and forgiven overage if you upgrade in the same cycle. The cap has a price: after it, automations run only for contacts already active that month, so new people stop entering your flows. Where Instant Reply pulls ahead
- No contact meter. ManyChat counts a story reaction, a comment or a DM as an Active Contact for the month. Instant Reply has unlimited contacts and no per-contact fee; the meter is AI replies, and the AI pauses at its cap instead of invoicing.
- A spike does not change the invoice. 20,000 Active Contacts above Pro's allowance is $1,000 of overage on ManyChat month-to-month ($1,039 in total) unless you set a cap or upgrade in the same cycle. On Instant Reply the invoice stays at the plan price.

Switching from ManyChat: a checklist
There is no ManyChat importer, so this is a manual move. Contact export, number ownership, consent records and channel approval vary by account; confirm each before changing a live connection.
- 1Inventory every ManyChat flow: trigger, conditions, tags, custom fields, and what each step sends. Mark each one as an AI-answerable conversation (move it) or a pure campaign flow (leave it in ManyChat).
- 2Export your contacts, tags and custom fields from ManyChat if your plan allows it, and keep only people with a recorded opt-in.
- 3Check your ManyChat renewal date. ManyChat says annual plans cannot be downgraded or switched to monthly until the term ends, and a new plan can be cancelled for a refund within 30 days.
- 4Connect one Instant Reply channel and paste your FAQs, prices and policies. Start in draft mode so a person approves each reply.
- 5Run ten real customer questions through it: a price question, a voice note, a photo, a booking request, an angry message, an opt-out. Fix the answers before sending anything live.
- 6Rebuild the keyword and comment triggers you still need, then pause the matching ManyChat automations before enabling the new ones so no customer gets two replies.
- 7For WhatsApp, ask ManyChat support how to release or migrate the number before moving it, and test on a spare number first.
