ManyChat does support WhatsApp in 2026, but old pricing articles now send buyers in the wrong direction. ManyChat introduced a five-tier model on March 2, 2026, moved billing toward monthly Active Contacts, placed WhatsApp on Pro and higher, and made a real shared team Inbox part of Business.
This guide was checked on August 10, 2026 against ManyChat's official pricing page, its 2026 pricing announcement, and the official WhatsApp pricing guide. Plan availability and checkout prices can vary by region. Accounts created before March 2 may still see the legacy model.
ManyChat WhatsApp pricing: the current plan matrix
| Plan | Advertised annual starting price | Active Contacts included | Users / Inbox seats | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 25 | No | 1 / 1 |
| Essential | $14 per month | 250 | No | 2 / 1 |
| Pro | $29 per month | 2,500 | Yes | 3 / 2 |
| Business | $69 per month | 7,500 | Yes | 5 / 3 |
| Advanced | $139 per month | 25,000 | Yes | 10 / 5 |
Those are the annual-billing prices displayed by ManyChat at review time, before taxes and overages. ManyChat's Advanced documentation lists $199 monthly or $139 monthly when billed annually. Check the purchase page for your billing country rather than treating a search snippet as a quote.
What "Active Contact" means for the bill
The new model is not simply a flat subscription. Each plan includes a monthly Active Contact allowance. ManyChat publishes annual-billing overage rates of $0.082 per additional contact on Essential, $0.038 on Pro, $0.018 on Business, and $0.0028 on Advanced, with different monthly-billing rates. Forecast against people you expect to engage in a month, not the size of an old exported contact list.
What each WhatsApp-capable plan is actually for
Pro: automation with a small operating team
Pro is the entry point for WhatsApp under the new model. It includes up to three eligible channels, broadcasts, advanced automations, AI-powered conversations, three account users, two Inbox seats, and custom Inbox labels and rules. That is materially different from the older claim that ManyChat had no live inbox.
Pick Pro when one or two people own the inbox and the main job is automation: capturing leads, triggering a flow, answering common questions, and broadcasting through allowed channels.
Business: team assignment begins here
Business is the first current tier that explicitly includes a shared team Inbox and conversation assignments. It includes five users, three Inbox seats, unlimited eligible channels, 7,500 Active Contacts, AI, broadcasts, and priority support.
Pick Business when ownership matters: a conversation needs an assignee, several channels feed one operating team, and managers need an organized handoff. If more than three people must actively work the Inbox, include the seat model in the comparison.
Advanced: more volume, seats, and API access
Advanced increases the allowance to 25,000 Active Contacts, includes ten users and five Inbox seats, supports unlimited eligible channels, and adds API capabilities for custom integrations. ManyChat's Advanced plan guide says Inbox capacity can scale to ten seats and lists additional seats at $25 each.
Pick Advanced when messaging is infrastructure for a larger team and you can use the extra capacity. Do not buy it only because the word "API" sounds safer; write down the actual endpoint, event, or integration the project requires.
The second bill: WhatsApp template charges
ManyChat's subscription is not the full WhatsApp bill. After you connect a WhatsApp Business Account and share its credit line, ManyChat Wallet pays for applicable template messages. The rate depends on message category and the recipient's market.
- Incoming customer messages: ManyChat's current guide says messages from users to the business are free.
- Non-template replies: currently free from Meta inside the open 24-hour customer service window.
- Utility templates: currently avoid Meta fees when delivered inside that open service window; outside it, applicable rates apply.
- Marketing templates: charged when allowed, but Meta paused marketing templates to U.S. WhatsApp numbers starting April 1, 2025.
Meta has announced another change for October 1, 2026: service messages and utility templates inside the service window will become chargeable. Use the current WhatsApp and Twilio pricing calculator for a dated estimate, then verify the final rate in ManyChat before sending.
Capability checklist before connecting the number
A WhatsApp logo in a pricing table does not prove that a workflow is ready. Test these behaviors in a trial or non-production account:
- Onboarding: confirm the exact WhatsApp Business Account, number, permissions, and migration effect.
- Inbound: send text, image, document, voice note, reply, and unsupported content.
- Ownership: assign a thread, transfer it, remove an agent, and verify access.
- Collision: have two agents open the same conversation and observe what prevents duplicate replies.
- Window rules: test a reply inside and outside the 24-hour service window.
- Template failure: use a rejected, paused, or incorrectly parameterized test template.
- CRM handoff: verify contact matching, duplicate handling, stage updates, and retry behavior.
- Opt-out: confirm suppression across broadcasts, flows, and manual sends.
ManyChat or a dedicated WhatsApp sales inbox?
| Primary job | Better starting point | Reason to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Instagram comment-to-DM plus WhatsApp broadcasts | ManyChat Pro | Strong automation builder and social-channel workflow |
| Several agents assigning cross-channel conversations | ManyChat Business or a dedicated inbox | Compare seat count, collision behavior, and manager controls |
| High-volume automation plus custom API work | ManyChat Advanced | Confirm the exact API capability and overage forecast |
| WhatsApp-first sales ownership and CRM stages | Dedicated WhatsApp sales inbox | Test handoff, context, follow-up, voice notes, and CRM writes |
ManyChat is not merely a broadcast tool, and saying it has no team Inbox is no longer accurate. Its strongest fit remains social automation and campaigns. A dedicated inbox becomes attractive when the daily job is qualifying, assigning, following up, and moving two-way WhatsApp conversations through a sales process.
Use the interactive scorecard in the WhatsApp shared-inbox guide to turn that choice into explicit requirements. Then compare the same five conversations in ManyChat and the Instant Reply team inbox. Keep the tool that passes the operational tests with the fewest add-ons and unclear handoffs.
Frequently asked questions
Quick answers to what people ask most.
- In the plan model introduced March 2, 2026, WhatsApp begins on Pro. Pro can connect up to three eligible channels; Business and Advanced can connect unlimited eligible channels. Plan availability can vary by region and older accounts may still use the legacy model.
- The software capability is included on eligible plans, but applicable WhatsApp template fees are separate. After the WhatsApp Business Account shares its credit line with ManyChat, the ManyChat Wallet funds those message charges.
- The new plans use monthly Active Contacts. Included limits are 25 on Free, 250 on Essential, 2,500 on Pro, 7,500 on Business, and 25,000 on Advanced. Overage pricing applies after the included amount on paid plans.
- Yes. Pro includes three users and two Inbox seats with labels and rules. Business includes five users, three Inbox seats, and shared team assignments. Advanced includes ten users and five Inbox seats, with an option to add more.
- No. Meta paused marketing template delivery to U.S. WhatsApp numbers on April 1, 2025. ManyChat's current WhatsApp pricing guide still flags that restriction. Utility and authentication use cases follow their own current rules.
- Choose by operating model. ManyChat is strong for social automation, broadcasts, and cross-channel flows. A dedicated inbox such as Instant Reply is worth evaluating when WhatsApp sales ownership, CRM workflow, voice-note handling, and agent handoff are the primary job. Run the same pilot on both products before migrating a production number.
